Random Thoughts for Late Summer/Early Fall 1999

Alec Guinness' Infamous Words

If you haven't heard about it by now, you surely will hear about it some time in the near future....in an upcoming issue of Talk magazine, Alec Guinness discusses his displeasure with some aspects of Star Wars and its more "obsessive" fans. On various internet forums, some fans have reacted harshly to Sir Guinness' words. Personally, I don't think people need to get as worked up about this as they are. He is entitled to his opinion and if someone doesn't like it, that is perfectly acceptable. FYI, if you want to check out the article at E! Online, click here.

Star Wars Chicks & the Fight Against Breast Cancer

A big thumbs up to the crew at Star Wars Chicks for creating & selling t-shirts with all proceeds going towards the fight against breast cancer. Also, another big thumbs up to Lucasfilm for sanctioning the t-shirts.

The Incredible Internet Guide to Star Wars

This is a very good book by Peter J. Weber for people taking their first steps into the Star Wars internet community and for those of us that have been around it for awhile. I'll admit that I wasn't too hot on the book at first because I didn't see the need of it. In retrospect, that was a rather short-sighted opinion of mine as I, most likely, have been exposed to a lot more Star Wars websites than the average person surfing through the Star Wars internet community. Sometimes, we just need to take a step back and look at things from a different point of view.
