Tyner, and I am a concerned citizen and friend to oppressed minorities. Like yourself, I was completely offended by all the racist stereotypes in The Phantom Menace. How dare Lucasfilm! From Jar Jar Binks to that guy with the things coming out of his head, it's just chock full of offensive characters. Why, on my own, I compiled a list of 27 racist stereotypes in the movie! Gee whiskers! That's a lot! Every time I saw this movie, I grew madder and madder. By the eighth viewing, I had had it! So shaken was I by this exerience, that I lay in bed crying for four straight weeks. Finally, though, there was a light at the end of the tunnel. My husband Sven managed to secure four free tickets to a sneak preview of the new movie "Muppets from Space." I knew this G rated movie would be safe for the whole family. I COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG!! IT'S MORE OFFENSIVE THAN TPM BY FAR!! Sven and I took our two young grandchildren, Fred and Velma, to the movie. They've been in an awful state ever since their parents joined that "garbage eaters" cult and cut off all communication. What better way to cheer them up than to see the muppets? But DEAR LORD, THIS MOVIE WAS OFFENSIVE. Let's start with Pepe the prawn. He sounds like a cross between Speedy Gonzalez and Peter Lorre. I'm not sure what he's supposed to be...Mexican? French? In any case, he speaks with a funny accent and says stupid things, therefore under the new "Binks Law of Stereotypes" he is a RACIST CHARACTER. Then there is the Swedish Chef. Oh dear me. What a hurtful, hurtful character! My husband Sven happens to be of Swedish heritage, and he finds this character to be very distressing. Now, granted, my husband does spend most of his waking hours babbling in incoherent faux-Swedish, but he can't help it; he's a Swede. Shame on Jim Henson Productions for this hatred for the Scandinavian Peoples. Other stereotypes in Muppets from Space include: Clifford: a horribly racist Jamaican stereotype Animal: stereotype of schizophrenics Miss Piggy: stereotype of fat women Rizzo: stereotype of New Yorkers Gonzo: Jewish stereotype (just look at that hook nose!) Bunsen Honeydew: Gay stereotype Fozzie Bear: Also gay stereotype Kermit the Frog: Gay gay GAY!! And the list goes on. Well, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!
