Subject: Star Wars: The Sitcom Date: Sat, 15 Aug 1998 00:49:35 GMT From: kentaro@hawaii.edu (Kentaro P Maeda) A while back on rec.arts.tv there was a thread concerning cliched plotlines used in sitcoms (and, evidently, "The Flintstones"). So, what if Star Wars were a sitcom? I've adapted a few of the plotlines to fit that scenario: Han and 3PO get locked inside a cargo room on a Rebel cruiser. After initially getting into heated arguments about whose fault it was, the two eventually get to know each other better and in the end are freed from the room, as the best of friends. Chewbacca and a pregnant, female Rebel officer board an elevator in the Hoth base. The elevator gets stuck, and the officer goes into labor. Chewie reluctantly but successfully delivers the baby, then faints. Luke bumps his head on a door... He gets amnesia, and his buddies reminisce through a series of flashbacks to try to jog his memory (the dreaded, obligatory clip show). Leia stands to inherit Bail's fortune, but she must first spend one night at his Coruscant mansion, which is said to be... haunted. The gang tries to survive the night, and hilarity ensues. Luke prepares for the multiple-choice written portion of the Jedi training process. Thinking he'll never pass, he creates a crib sheet. Upon looking over the questions, he realizes he -can- pass, and does so without cheating. He passes wtih flying colors but Yoda soon learns of the crib sheet. Luke insists he never used it, but Yoda is skeptical. The two agree for Luke to take the test again, and he passes. __________________________________________________________________________ From: yakko@vcn.bc.ca (Michael Morse) Date: 25 Aug 1998 07:46:24 GMT Everyone pretends to not know it's Han's birthday so they can throw him a surprise party. He gets depressed and runs away. A hypnotist at a nightclub hypnotizes Han and whenever someone says the secret word, he thinks he's Darth Vader. The hilarity ensues. Artoo convinces Threepio to borrow the *Falcon* for the night so they can cruise around. There's an accident and they have to keep Han from finding out until they can get it fixed. While Han and Leia are locked in the freezer (carbonite area?), they reminisce about past episodes. In a very special episode, Luke has a drinking problem. __________________________________________________________________________ From: Duggy Date: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 14:01:37 +1000 Mara returns, stating that she wants to have a baby, and she wants Luke to be the father. After initial confusion, Mara explains she wants him to donate sperm, not supply it in the conventional method. Meanwhile R2 and 3PO are stuck in a lift with a preggers woman, and help deliver the baby.
